2025 SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Applicants must be a graduating student of any public high school or special learning program in Central or Southeast Kentucky.

  • Applicants must attend an institution of higher learning as a full-time student for the upcoming fall semester, but no later than spring semester of the same academic year.

  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher, plus any of the following:

    • School or community awards/recognitions

    • Involvement in community/ volunteer /civic activities

    • Noteworthy achievement

  • Applicants must submit a copy of their transcript with GPA.​

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization of college educated women committed to its members’ constructive development and public service, with a primary focus on the Black community.  We proudly offer the 1913 Scholarship to empower and support outstanding students in their pursuit of higher education. Rooted in our commitment to scholarship, service, and social action, this scholarship reflects our dedication to uplifting future leaders and making a lasting impact in our community.

We believe that community service is the foundation of true leadership and progress. By giving back, we not only strengthen our neighborhoods but also cultivate a spirit of responsibility, compassion, and unity among future generations. Through this scholarship, we aim to support students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for service, ensuring they have the resources to achieve their dreams and continue the legacy of making a difference.  ðŸŒŸ Education + Service = Empowerment 🌟

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  1. The deadline for scholarship applications is April 25, 2025.

  2. Incomplete applications will not be considered. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

  3. ​A list of the supporting documents needed to complete this application.

    • transcript with GPA

    • submit a 250–500 word essay on the following question: 

      • "Based on recent challenges to DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), why is achieving academic excellence more crucial than ever before?"

  4. Once the application is submitted, an email confirmation will be sent to acknowledge receipt of your application.​

  5. Proof of school enrollment (first or second semester class schedule and letter of acceptance) is required to receive the check.  Further instructions will be sent after winners are selected.
